If your child has just received Local Anesthesia for Dental Work, the numbness will last about 2 Hours. It is a strange sensation to most children and they may have a tendency to pull, squeeze or even bite their lip, cheek or tongue. This can result in ulceration and swelling.
TO PREVENT THIS COMPLICATION:
CLOSELY OBSERVE YOUR CHILD. TRY TO PREVENT HIM / HER FROM BITING OR SCRATCHING THEIR LIP, CHEEK, OR TONGUE.
IF YOUR CHILD IS HUNGRY, ONLY ALLOW HIM / HER TO EAT SOFT, COOL FOODS UNTIL THE ANESTHESIA HAS WORN OFF.
