Infant Oral Health
We are committed to making your baby’s first visit to our practice pleasant and positive for both you and your child. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child’s first visit to the dentist should happen when their first tooth appears – but no later than their first birthday.
Frenectomy
If your child experiences nursing difficulties, speech difficulties, failure to gain weight, shallow latching or easily chokes – these problems could be caused by a defect in their frenum. This is a piece of tissue that connects the tongue or lips to the gum area. We may be able to correct these problems using a laser procedure called a “frenectomy.”
Tooth Eruption
As a general rule, the four front teeth (two upper and two lower) usually come in first – beginning as early as six months after birth. Their adult teeth will begin to erupt at about age six, and the process will be completed at about age 12.
